Tuesday, June 1, 2010 9:25 AM -0700By: David Smith
Data Backup Procedure

The purpose of this document is to outline the process for backing up data currently being stored on the computer. This process should be repeated frequently and as frequently as deemed necessary by the primary user of the workstation. It is recommended that the primary user save all work to one location on the computer to facilitate the backup process. It is suggested that at least one copy of the backup be stored off-site (i.e. home.)
Data Backup Procedure
1.      Obtain blank CD from front desk. (CD-R type)
2.      Insert CD into iBook using standard procedure.
3.       Enter desired name of CD when dialog box appears (e.g. YourName_Databackup_060404).
4.      Drag all documents/data to disk image on desktop and allow copy to complete.
5.      Open CD by double-clicking on CD disk image.
6.      Review documents to ensure data was effectively copied.
7.      Drag disk image to dock to the burn disk icon (normally where you drag to eject disk.)
8.      Click ‘Burn’ when prompted.
9.      When burning is complete - drag disk image to eject icon on dock.
10.      Label CD with same name as above
11.     Store CD is safe/secure location.
